A utility-scale PV site was experiencing high alarm noise, repeated inverter trips, and slow closure of recurring issues due to unclear prioritization between O&M, OEM, and field teams.
What we did
- Rebuilt alarm philosophy (severity, response time, escalation ownership) and removed redundant alarms
- Created daily triage workflow (Top 10 faults, root-cause categories, action owners)
- Standardized KPI reporting: availability, PR, energy loss buckets, inverter restart causes
- Implemented repeat-fault register with closure evidence and weekly review cadence
Outcome
- Reduced “alarm flood” and improved operator focus
- Improved fault closure speed and reduced repeat occurrences
- Clearer weekly performance narrative for management and stakeholders
